Pastor's Blog

Our forefathers knew what it was like to become a sacrifice for the sake of liberty!
They left their mother country to give birth to a new nation, but Jesus left His homeland (heaven) to give birth to a great nation of people!
The signers of the Declaration of Independence literally gave their all for this nation. When they signed that document, they sign their own death warrant!
·       Five were captured by the British and tortured before they died.
·       Twelve had their homes ransacked and burned.
·       Two lost their sons in the war.
·       Nine either died from war wounds or other hardships because of the war.
But, standing firm and courageous, these men pledged:
“For the support of this declaration, with firm reliance on the protection of the Divine providence, we mutually pledge to each other, our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor!”
They declared that “we are endowed with certain inalienable rights, Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness!”
Jesus signed His death warrant with His own blood, “that we might have life and have it more abundantly!”
·       This is the cost for freedom – the Cross!
·       Death is usually the cost for freedom in a fallen world.
·       If it weren’t for the Cross, we would be enslaved by sin today, “But God so loved…”
·       If it wasn’t for the many who gave their lives in the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, WW I & II, Korea, Viet Nam and the present War on Terror, we would be enslaved by tyrannical and totalitarian regimes!
Our Flag proudly flies as a symbol of our nation’s freedom:
·       Red – sacrifice
·       White – Pure intent
·       Blue – valor and courage
